U.S. Rep. Daniel Lipinski has a long record of attacking women’s health. From speaking (many times) at the annual March for Life to voting seven times to “defund” Planned Parenthood to fighting against no-copay birth control and the Affordable Care Act, Lipinski stands well apart from the principles someone would expect from a Chicago-area Democrat.

(It’s no wonder that two other Chicago-area Democrats in Congress — Luis Gutierrez and Jan Schakowsky — have endorsed Lipinski’s primary challenger, Marie Newman.)

This might blow your mind, though: In Congress, Lipinski has sponsored over 50 separate measures attacking women’s health — including the right to obtain a safe, legal abortion.

That’s right: In addition to casting votes against marriage equality, the Dream Act, and expanding access to health care, Lipinski has lent his name to 54 separate items of legislation that attack women’s health.

We have the full list of sponsorships; take the time to read it. (It’s a long list, so have a beverage handy to keep from getting parched.)

On March 20, residents of Lipinski’s district have the chance to send a champion for women’s health to Congress. Planned Parenthood Action Fund supports Marie Newman for Congress because she’s the right candidate for Illinois women, and because she understands that personal, private health decisions should be between a patient and their doctor — not their member of Congress.
